HOBART WOMEN'S SHELTER

During the two days of the conference, we will be fundraising for Hobart Women’s Shelter.

Between 1st July 2020 and 30th April 2024, 4,454 women and children sought safe emergency accommodation and support from the Hobart Women’s Shelter. Unfortunately, 8 out of 10 were turned away due to capacity limits.

In 2022, HWS embarked on an ambitious project to build 25 new long-term homes for women and children to create additional affordable housing pathways and help alleviate the bottleneck in our services.

In April 2022, they purchased a block of land in Herdsmans Cove, and in March 2024, proudly unveiled their first two homes – ‘Isabel’ and ‘Elsie’. This milestone is the result of three years of dedication, hard work, and the invaluable support from their community, transforming an ambitious dream into a reality.

Hobart Women’s Shelter is running a Buy-a-Brick campaign towards this project – we will be running a BDAA Buy-a-Brick campaign for the duration of the conference – AND building a wall!

All funds raised through Buy-a-Brick and the sale of raffle tickets during the conference will be donated to Hobart Women’s Shelter.
